Electrical outlets are often placed 2 feet above the floor. Light switches are placed at waist
level. Only in kitchens and bathrooms are electrical outlets placed differently, in those cases
they are placed at waist level. When entering a public restroom at night or coming home
late at night, we fumble around at waist level looking for light switches.
When plugging in appliances, we often look towards the floor for an outlet.
Shift knobs for cars are always placed in the middle counsel. When
you step into a car which has a shifter where the wipers are located
(in the case of trucks), it feels awkward to shift.
Cigarettes are always placed behind the cashier’s counter. You don’t see beer or alcoholic beverages
behind the counter. Where is the first place you go to for cigarettes when entering a store?? You
certainly do not go in between the isles looking for them.
Glove compartments are always
located on the dash board on the
passenger side of the car.
Tags on shirts are always located on the back of a collar.
Also located there are the directions to wash the piece of
clothing. It would be weird to have a shirt tag located
inside the right side of the sleeve. When someone asks you
what size shirt you wear, you automatically reach for the
back of your neck to check.
